    WCCS softball ticker:   Homer-Center beat Blacklick Valley, 7-6, Thursday to open District 6 Class A playoffs. Check here for all the scores!
     
     
    Homer-Center opened the District 6 Class A playoffs with a 7-6 win over Blacklick Valley. The Wildcats gave up a run in the top of the 7th and trailed by one, and were down to their last out with no one on, but a walk, an error, and a wild pitch put runners on second and third, and Melissa Jones lined a single into right-center field to score two runs and win the game. Danielle Rura was 3 for 4 with a triple and two runs. Kaitlynn Skinner was 2 for 4 and Megan Vilcek was 2 for4 with three RBI. Sophomore Beth Ann Maggio was the winning pitcher, going the distance and striking out one, with three walks.

    Homer Center (8-8) will play top seed Bishop Guilfoyle on Monday at Garfield Field in Altoona at 4 p.m.

    Purchase Line lost to Conemaugh Valley, 8-4, Thursday in Class A. The Red Dragons' April Elling was 3 for 3 and Kasey Rorabaugh added two hits. The Dragons (7-10) left 10 runners on base, including six in scoring position.

    In Class AA, Marion Center bowed out with a 7-1 loss to Cambria Heights. Ashley Morgan had two hits and the lone RBI for the Stingers, who finish the season at 12-6.
