Police investigators have taken a man into custody this afternoon after a shooting this morning in downtown Indiana. It happened at 2:08 AM at the corner Philadelphia Street and Carpenter Avenue in front of The Coney, although police do not say that The Coney was involved in the incident.
Police arrested the man after executing a search warrant at a Wayne Ave. apartment near campus
Justin McCoy, 21 years old of Springfield, Va., suffered a bullet wound to the chest in the morning shooting. He underwent surgery this morning in Johnstown.

The shooting suspect,  a black male, had fled the shooting scene before police arrived. There is no other description provided, and there is no description of the gun. Police are interviewing witnesses and asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact them at 349-2121. View a photo gallery here.

The suspect will be charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and related offenses.
