Two Clymer-Area People Are Dead in an Apparent Murder-Suicide
Man kills married girlfiend, later turns gun on self

12/16/2009

Authorities say 38-year-old Rodney Wagner, of Dixonville, showed up at his married girlfriend’s house during the mid to late morning hours yesterday at 215 Hancock Street in Clymer, and fatally shot her with a rifle while her husband and adult son were sleeping upstairs. 40-year-old Kimberly Romagna was pronounced dead at the scene at 1 p.m. of an apparent single gunshot wound to the head.

After shooting Romagna, Wagner fled the scene. State police launched a search, and after picking up a ping from a cell phone transmission, Troopers found Wagner's work truck at his home in Green Township. After three hours, the Special Emergency Response Team went inside the house on Route 403 in Dixonville about a block away from Sandy's Corner Convenience store.  Troopers later discovered Wagner’s body in an upstairs bedroom.

Indiana County Coroner Mike Baker says Wagner was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m., but that he had been dead for several hours before he was found. Baker says Wagner died of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The victim had confided in friends that Wagner had been violent to her in the past. Nancy Isenberg, a friend of Romagna, talked with our news exchange partners at Channel Four Action News yesterday.

"He had been in the past. He hadn't been lately, but yes, he had in the past," Isenberg said. "Normal arguments was all I ever seen, and I have seen him throw a fist at her, but I haven't seen the damage that he's done in the past."

Autopsies on Wagner and Romagna will be conducted Wednesday morning at the Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.

After finding Wagner's vehicle, a Pennsylvania State Police S.E.R.T. team  surrounded the house that Wagner lived before finding his body inside.

Romagna's body was found in the corner house in the photo on the left. The house number is 215 at the corner of 2nd Street and Hancock Street in Clymer Borough. In the photo of the right, police cars surround the murder scene. Click the photos to see a larger version.
