FYOCK TO BE HONORED AS TOP SHERIFF
2010 Crime Prevention Office of the Sheriff Award

    7/29/2010

Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock will be honored tomorrow with the state’s “2010 Crime Prevention Office of the Sheriff Award”.

The ceremony will be at 7:30 PM at the state sheriff’s convention in Exton, Chester County. The award is a joint endeavor of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency and the Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Association. It’s given each year to a county sheriff who has demonstrated a strong commitment to crime prevention and crime reduction.

The citation recognizes Fyock’s support for a variety of community-based efforts, including “Deputy Phil” and “Stranger Danger” programs for elementary-age children and drug abuse prevention programs for older youths and their parents. It also lauds his establishment of the special bicycle unit in the sheriff’s office, and his work with domestic violence, elder abuse, and suicide task forces.

Fyock has been the Indiana County Sheriff since 2004. He’s a 1968 graduate of Indiana High School and a multiple medal winner for his service during the Vietnam War. He’s been working in Indiana County law enforcement in various capacities since 1974.
