A preliminary hearing will be held before Judge Guy Haberl today at11 AMfor Woodrow Hicks Jr., the 43-year-old Blairsville man charged with trying to meet up with a 15-year-old girl for sexual purposes at the Indiana Wal Mart store.
The incident happened November 3rd. State police say Hicks used text messages to the girl to entice her to meet him for a sexual encounter. When he arrived at the Wal Mart Parking Lot and was confronted by state troopers, he tried to flee and resisted arrest, but was taken into custody.
The charges include aggravated assault, statutory sexual assault and attempted statutory sexual assault, and unlawful contact with a minor for sexual offense. All of those are felonies. In addition, he is charged with misdemeanor corruption of minors, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, and simple assault.
Hicks has been in custody at the Indiana County Jail since his arrest, with bond set at $30,000.
