Indiana Borough, Waste Management offer special arrangement

With IUP students set to take finals next week and then head home for the holidays, Indiana Borough has announced a special arrangement with Waste Management to handle the trash that is left behind.

Waste Management will conduct its regular collections, but students who live in the borough may place the trash curbside prior to their scheduled date of pickup IF they notify the borough office at 465-6691 to make arrangements for early pickup.  The service will be provided by Waste Management weekdays from December 12th to the 21st

As always, trash may be placed out for collection no sooner than 6 PM the day before pickup and must be returned from the curbside by 11 PM the day of their collection.

The borough also reminds all residents of a new policy for recycling electronic devices that will take effect on January 24th.  A new state law requires that electronics such as computers, laptops, monitors, and TVs may not be put out with the trash.  The good news is that the Indiana County Recycling Center along Route 119 South in Homer City will take them free of charge.  The recycling facility is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
