Nearly 1,100 students are eligible to participate in commencement ceremonies this weekend at IUP.  Commencement is scheduled for this Saturday.  The ceremony for graduate students will be at 9:30 a.m. in the IUP Performing Art Center’s Fisher Auditorium. 


The undergraduate ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.  Management department faculty member Abbas Ali will be the keynote speaker at both ceremonies.  Ali is IUP’s 2012-13 University Professor, that is an annual award that comes with a lifetime title that is based on outstanding teacher, research and scholarly activity.  Tabitha Barrick, of Newton Hamilton, an accounting and finance student, will be the student undergraduate speaker, while Garrett Rine of Harrisburg will speak at the graduate ceremony. 


In all the university plans to award more than 600 undergraduate degrees, more than 400 master’s degrees, 79 doctoral degrees and one associate degree.
