Indiana Fire Chief Chuck Kelly says a state police fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause of last night’s fire along Burns Avenue.
The fire broke out shortly before 10 o’clock in a first-floor apartment of the block-and-wood structure owned by Tom and Ron Moreau. Kelly says flames were shooting out of the back of the first floor when crews arrived, and the fire had “a pretty good head start” on them. He says the building is not livable and IUP is assisting with the housing needs of the seven students who were displaced. There are four apartments in that building.
