CORBETT ADMINISTRATION PLANNING NEXT MOVE AFTER STATE A.G. NIXES CONTRACT

2/16/2013

The Corbett Administration is currently weighing its options following Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s recent decision to reject the contract between the State and Camelot Global Services concerning the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Pennsylvania Treasurer Rob McCord has said that he is also keeping a close eye on the issue.  McCord said he agreed with Kane’s decision, saying the administration was warned that the contract with Camelot would permit new gambling forms that are currently prohibited by the state.  The union that represents lottery employees challenged the contract in court for that very reason, saying if they were allowed some of the same opportunities that Camelot was being given, they could make as much revenue as Camelot would.

Governor Corbett is asking Camelot Global Services to extend their $3.5 billion bid.  That bid is scheduled to expire today.
