Local officials will come together in Armstrong County for a groundbreaking ceremony along Route 422.

The ceremony is for the planned $9.15 million safety improvement program that will realign one mile of Route 422 between Wray Plan Road and Rupp Church Road in Manor and Kittanning Townships.  That project will include the installation of a turn lane east of Lasher Road and ending near Rupp Church Road.  Theater Road, Graham Road and Rupp Church Road intersections will be realigned and will be served by a left turn.

The project is a collaboration of officials in both Armstrong and Indiana counties, along with state and federal officials.  This area of Route 422 has proven to be dangerous, with several major accidents over the last several years, including some fatalities.  That ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Kittanning Township Fire Hall along Route 422 in Kittanning.
