Judge Al Bell has scheduled a pretrial conference for this coming Monday in the Kevin Murphy murder case. Earlier this week, he received a list of proposed questions to ask of potential jurors.
Murphy, who is from Saltsburg, is charged with three counts of first degree murder in the April 2009 slayings of his mother, sister, and aunt. The case is being tried in Westmoreland County because the murders happened at the family’s glass business across the river from Saltsburg in Loyalhanna Township.
District Attorney John Peck will seek the death penalty against Murphy, who he says committed the murders because the victims were upset at his affair with a married Apollo woman. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on April 8th.
