Inauguration ceremonies were held Friday for IUP's New President, Dr. Michael Driscoll
In a speech that drew on the shared history of Indiana County and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Michael Driscoll lauded the cooperation between the university and local communities, while pointing toward future partnerships on issues such as Marcellus Shale development. Driscoll formally became the 26th president of the university Friday. He came to Indiana County last July, after serving as provost and executive vice chancellor of the University of Alaska in Anchorage. Looking toward IUP’s future, Driscoll says the university must embrace new technology while strengthening the traditional university environment.
Driscoll is also stressing the university’s importance to Indiana County and Western Pennsylvania, saying the university must continue to work on innovation with the communities it serves.
