MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES HELD ACROSS AREA TODAY AND TOMORROW

It’s Memorial Day Weekend, where we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.  Some of the observances will be held today.  One will be in Green Township.  It will be a worship service led by Reverend Robert Bartlebaugh at the McDowell Cemetery and it will start at 2 PM.  A service has also been planned for 3 PM at the Burnside Cemetery with Daniel Rorabaugh acting as the Master of Ceremonies and Pastor Doug Brink will be the guest speaker.  Music will be provided by the Purchase Line High School Band.

Tomorrow, Ceremonies will be held in Indiana Borough at 10:30 in Memorial Park near the old armory building.  The ceremony, put together by the American Legion post 141 will have Indiana Mayor George Hood as the Master of Ceremonies.  Blairsville’s Annual Memorial Day Parade will start at 10:30 AM, with services following the parade at 11:15 at the Veteran’s Circle Cemetery with keynote speaker Thomas Patz, Veteran of the US Air Force and Commander of the Blairsville VFW.  Marion Center’s Memorial Day Parade will begin at 1:00 on Monday, with services following the parade at the Marion Center Cemetery.
