Indiana Borough police last night nabbed two Westmoreland County men with a large amount of heroin in their car, and one of the suspects put up a fight before being subdued.
At about 9:30 PM, police pulled over a vehicle driven by 29-year-old William Johnson of Arnold on the on-ramp to Route 119 South after they saw him commit several traffic violations. They found a large amount of heroin on Johnson and as they were arresting him, he started fighting with them on the roadway and tried to swallow the heroin. State police arrived to assist, and police used a Taser to get Johnson under control. They recovered the heroin and some money.
Meanwhile, a computer check turned up a drug-related Michigan arrest warrant and a Pennsylvania parole notice on the other occupant of the vehicle, 33-year-old Ronae Allen, also of Arnold.
Both suspects have criminal histories, including arrests in Indiana County. Johnson is charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin and of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence. Allen is charged with possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia.
