UPDATE: FORD CITY AND WEST SHAMOKIN JR/SR HIGH SCHOOLS EVACUATED

4/2/2014

Both the West Shamokin and Ford City Jr./Sr. High Schools were evacuated this morning due to a bomb threat found in the Ford City School.

It was reported that the threat was found in a girls locker room at the Ford City School around 10:50.  The threat said that the bomb was to go off in two hours time.  Students and staff were evacuated to an unknown location while the investigation went on.  Ford City Borough Police were assisted by Armstrong County Sheriffs, firefighters, and bomb-sniffing dogs from the Allegheny County Bomb Squad.

Students at West Shamokin were evacuated at the same time and taken to the nearby football field.

Armstrong School District officials nor the local police have commented on the issue.
