There is another delay for the closure of a bridge in Shelocta. PennDOT says the West Shelocta Truss Bridge carrying Route 56/156 over Crooked Creek will close on Monday, May 19th. The $721,000 rehabilitation of the bridge was originally scheduled to get underway this past Monday, then rescheduled for this coming Monday, and now it is scheduled for the following Monday. PennDOT gave no reason for the delay.
When it finally does happen, the bridge will remain closed until September. Traffic will be detoured between the Route 422 intersection and Sportsman Club Road. Motorists will use Route 422 to Elderton, onto Route 210, and then back to Route 56.
