SEPARATE CRASHES KILL TWO AREA MEN
    7-24-2010

    7/24/2010

Coroner Mike Baker said separate crashes killed two area men early Saturday morning in Indiana County. A motorcycle driven by 25 year-old Jeffrey J. Weber Jr. of 712 Kauffman Road, Indiana collided head-on with a second vehicle on Route 286 at the intersection of Zehner Road at about 12:51 AM.

Baker said it appears that Weber’s motorcycle crossed the center line of the roadway into the path of the other vehicle and struck it’s right front corner. Weber was killed when he and his passenger, who was not identified by the Coroner’s Office, were ejected from the bike onto the roadway. Baker pronounced Weber dead at the scene at 1:28 AM of Blunt Force Trauma of the Head. Baker said Weber’s passenger suffered unspecified trauma and was transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital after stabilization at IRMC. No word on her condition was available. Firefighters from multiple companies assisted at the scene.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Weber are to be handled by the Robinson-Lytle Funeral Home in Indiana.

The second accident occurred on Route 22 in the westbound lanes near the Route 403 interchange at about 1:45 AM. Baker said a Chevrolet Malibu reportedly spun broadside on the roadway and descended a steep embankment where it overturned, ejecting it’s operator, 39 year-old Jeffrey Lynn Fox of Seward.

Baker said the accident occurred at the same location where a truck driver was killed earlier this week when his tractor-trailer ran off the roadway. Fox was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:01 AM. Baker attributed death to Multiple Blunt Force Trauma. Firefighters from the Armagh and East Wheatfield VFD assisted at the scene. The Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Fox. State Police from Indiana are investigating both accidents. No autopsies are planned. Toxicology tests are pending.
