    SUSPECT IN BEATING DEATH CAPTURED
Cherry Tree man eluded police for three weeks

    7/27/2010

Police captured Sherman Holes of Cherry Tree early yesterday in Clearfield County, after he eluded them for three weeks. Holes is suspected of beating an elderly Northern Cambria man on June 30th. 79-year-old Arthur “Arch” Henry died from head injuries three days after the beating.

Authorities apprehended Holes without incident at a home on LaJose Road near Newburg. They’re not saying what led them to find the 40-year-old suspect, who was wanted in both Clearfield and Blair Counties in separate cases. No one has been charged yet in the death of Henry, although Holes was named as the prime suspect. He is known to have visited and fought with Henry on the evening in question. Henry’s granddaughter found her gravely-injured grandfather at his mobile home about three hours after the beating.

Holes’ live-in girlfriend, 38-year-old Brenda Romagna, is charged with hindering apprehension and drug possession. She faces those charges for helping him escape capture July 10th in Clearfield County, but is in the Indiana County Jail on drug charges in a separate case. Holes is being held in Clearfield County.
