The Board of Governors of the State System of Higher Education has affirmed the designation of Executive Vice Chancellor Peter Garland to serve as acting chancellor effective this Friday.

Garland has been with the State System since January 2002, serving in numerous senior leadership positions, most recently as executive vice chancellor. 

Chancellor John Cavanaugh’s last day with the State System is Thursday.  He’ll be leaving to take over as president and CEO of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, based in Washington, DC.  Even though he is leaving, he is still listed to represent the State System at a budget hearing before the State House Appropriations Committee next Monday.
