An 84-year-old Indiana man will be sentenced today on charges of sexual assault and intimidation of witnesses in two separate cases. Ralph Duncan pleaded guilty to a single count of sexual assault involving a girl who was thirteen years old at the beginning of a three-year course of abuse. Prosecutors chose not to proceed with charges of rape, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a victim less than 16 years of age, and withdrew a charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
In the other case, Duncan pleaded guilty to intimidation of a witness for telling a teenage boy not to tell police about a sexual assault case involving Duncan’s son, Nathan, who was accused of abusing the boy when he was 10. Those charges against Nathan Duncan were eventually dismissed.
Ralph Duncan’s 35-year-old wife, Katherine, is awaiting trial on five conspiracy charges involving rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a victim under age 16.
