Indiana Borough police are warning residents of a telephone scam that fraudulently uses actual business phone numbers to separate you from your money.
Police say numerous phone numbers are being used to dial people who receive an automated message that their debit card has been compromised. It then advises them to enter their personal information to reauthorize their cards, and the message uses the names of several banks. However, authorities say none of the banks have authorized the calls.
Residents are reminded to never give out information over the phone unless the person on the other end is someone you know and trust.
