The state House will return to session for one day Monday to wrap up loose ends on the budget bill for this year. State Representative Dave Reed will also join members of the House Majority Policy Committee in a news conference to unveil a new policy initiative titled, “Empowering Opportunities: Gateways Out of Poverty.”
Following the news conference, members of the committee will participate in a “poverty simulation” hosted by the Community Action Association of Pennsylvania. The goal of the simulation is to raise awareness of the challenges and barriers experienced by residents living in poverty.
The news conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the poverty simulation at 2 p.m. State Representative Reed says misconceptions do exist regarding poverty across the state and adds that it extends into suburban areas.
