Plans are moving forward for the new hotel adjacent to the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll made the announcement to the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce Board and Chamber President Jim Struzzi broke the news on your hometown radio stations this morning.
Struzzi says the hotel will be a Hilton Garden Inn with 120 rooms. There's no word on when construction could start or wrap up.
Right now, developers are in a 90 day due diligence period where the project's finances will be examined. That should be done by mid-to-late August.
The hotel has been in the works for years. Officials with the Kovalchick Complex say it will dramatically boost their bookings for conventions.
