Preliminary Autopsy Evidence in Wissinger Case released

The preliminary results of an autopsy concerning the recent shooting in Brush Valley last Monday morning have been released.

Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker says that the results that were just released are consistent with initial reports on the shooting death of former Deputy Sheriff Gary Wissinger, who was killed Monday at his home on Route 56 in Brush Valley.  As we reported, a state trooper shot and killed the 55 year old Brush Valley native when Wissinger aimed a handgun at police in front of his home early Morning.  State police had been reportedly summoned to the home by Wissinger’s wife.  A neighbor had told police that they heard four shots fired, which matches up with the autopsy report.

Baker says the manner of death is still pending further investigation, and Toxicology tests will also be factored in, but those take several weeks to complete.
