WOMAN ACCUSED OF FAKING LABOR TO AVOID APPREHENSION
Clarksburg woman jailed in Westmoreland County

9/10/2013

A Clarksburg woman is in trouble with the law in Westmoreland County for pretending she was going into labor and then fleeing when she was taken to a hospital.

Greensburg city police detained 25-year-old Melony Collingridge on September 1st when her name turned up on a warrant for a probation violation in Allegheny County.  When she appeared to be going into labor, she was taken by ambulance to Excela Health Westmoreland in Greensburg, but according to the charges filed yesterday, Collingridge got dressed and left from there.

Charges of flight to avoid apprehension and theft of services were filed before a Greensburg district judge.

Collingridge was sentenced in 2011 for negotiated guilty pleas to retail theft and disorderly conduct for stealing $600 worth of merchandise from the K-Mart store in North Versailles.  A bench warrant for a probation violation was issued in July of 2012.  It was served in February of this year and she failed to show up for a hearing in July.
