University preparing for start of acaddemic year

About 430 freshmen students will be moving into Delaney and Putt halls at IUP today and another 80 freshmen in the Robert E. Cook Honors College will move into Whitmyre Hall as the university gears up for the start of the academic year.  The rest of the freshmen and transfer students will arrive tomorrow and Saturday and the remainder of the student body follows on Sunday.

The kickoff to the academic year is tomorrow morning with the annual address by IUP president Michael Driscoll and others at Fisher Auditorium, and that event will be followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony next door at the brand new Crimson Café dining facility, and by the final Picnic in the Grove.  All of those events are open to the public.

The 410-seat Crimson Café is the first completed phase of IUP’s three-phase Dining Innovations plan.  It’s a micro-restaurant-style facility between Cogswell Hall and Stabley Library, featuring a Starbucks and dining options including The Fireplace, Burger Studio, and Crimson Bistro.
