Norbert William Mell, Sr., 54, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at his residence.
A son of Franklin E. and Rose Ann Anthony Mell, he was born May 12, 1958, in Natrona Heights.
Mr. Mell was a graduate of Marion Center High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. Norbert was employed by Brickworks Masonry. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and camping. Norbert was always there to help his family and friends in times of need.
He is survived by his mother, Rose Ann Mell, of Indiana; four children: Norbert W. Mell, Jr., of Fla.; Misty Murphy and husband Tom, of Indiana; Michelle Boring, of Clymer; Carl Mell and wife Aubrey, of Fla.; wife, Debra Haile, of Home; seven brothers and sisters: Shirley Anthony, of Indiana; John Mell, who was Norbert’s best friend, and wife Janie, of Creekside; Norma Lambert and fiancé Dan, of Mineral Point; Tina Bennett and husband John, of Armagh; Susan Shaffer and husband Lyle, of Home; Terry Mell, Sr. and wife Tina, of Elmora; Rose Ferguson and husband Bill, of Creekside; six step-brothers and sisters: Walt Weston, Howard Weston, Ralph Weston, Glen Weston, all of Creekside; Yvonne Wells, of Vandergrift; Elsie Weston, of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; very good friend, Brian Miller, of Ford City; and his dog, Paco.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin E. Mell; two brothers, Frank Mell and Charles Anthony; a sister, Barbara Mell; stepfather, Grant Weston; and a stepbrother, Floyd Weston.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, with Rev. Dr. Horace Derr officiating.
