Irene Yvonne (Grove) Hawk, 87, of Indiana, PA, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home.
A daughter of Elmer Raymond Grove and Zelda Ruth (Shearer) Grove, she was born January 2, 1925, in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Hawk was a homemaker and member of Zion Lutheran Church in Indiana. She had worked as an inventory clerk with the former Hills Dept. Store. Irene was also a member of the “Pine-ees Camping Club” of Indiana at one time.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Houser of Home, PA; her son, Harry B. Hawk Jr. of Indiana, PA; four grandchildren: Jeremy Hawk and wife Elizabeth, Jason Hawk and wife Aurora, Rachel Lewis and husband Greg, Alyssa Hawk; two great-grandchildren: Andrew Michael McCormick and Zayleigh Lewis; and in December another great-grandson is expected.
She is also survived by three brothers: Raymond “Bud” Grove and wife Mildred, Harold “Buzz” Grove and wife Mary, Royden “Roy” Grove and wife Carolyn, all of Indiana, PA; her brother- and sister-in-law, Howard and Annabelle Warner of Ford City, PA; her special friend, Mrs. Colleen Schneider of Indiana, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry B. Hawk Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Karen Hawk.
Friends will be received at the Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home in Indiana from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Indiana.
