George Van Wert Jr., 92 of Indiana, PA, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of George and Lottie (Barrett) Van Wert Sr. born on April 15, 1920 in Danbury, Connecticut.
George was a member of Christ our Savior Orthodox Church. He was a rural mail carrier for 26 years in Connecticut. George served in the United States Army stationed in New Caledonia. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Zimmerman of Burnsville, MN; two grandchildren, Katherine Zimmerman-Parker and husband Stephen and Matthew Zimmerman; three great-grandchildren, Haley and Zoey Zimmerman and Lili Parker.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Veronica (Gaydosh) Van Wert and one sister, Helen Manion.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at the Harry J. Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. His funeral service will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest George Mitchell, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery, Clymer.
