Ann (Fayak) Wasdi, 101, of Commodore, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Rose Haven Personal Care Home in White Township.
She was born March 11, 1911 in Sunnyside near Heilwood, PA to Andrew Fayak and Anna Yachisko Fayak.
Ann was a dedicated homemaker and community supporter. She was known for her excellent cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting. Ann was a longtime president of the Commodore UMWA LadiesAuxiliary, cooked for the various functions of the Commodore Methodist Ladies Aid, was an active member of the Commodore Senior Citizens, organized numerous senior bus trips and was caretaker of the Commodore Veterans Honor Roll.
Ann had a passion for bingo and traveling, and was a longtime supporter of the American Red Cross and the March of Dimes fund drives.
She is survived by three sons: Joseph C. Wasdi and wife Mariam of Sewickley, PA; Carl K. Hvozda and wife Anne of Homer City; and John T. Wasdi of Oak Hill, Virginia; three grandchildren: Brenda K. Wasdi and friend Gus Papantonio of Wexford, PA, Eric S. Hvozda and wife Jodi Stiles of Brunswick, Maryland, and Kristi L. and Franklin Eckenroad of Blairsville, PA and four great granddaughters: Nikita Alexa Hvozda, Olivia Ann, Hannah Rose, and Kathrine Grace Eckenroad and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wasil Wasdi (Hvozda) and four siblings: Mary Karlovich, Helen Lesica and Michael and Andrew Fayak.
Friends and relatives will be received 2-6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd., Hillsdale, PA. An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 with Father Timothy Kruthaupt officiating. A private interment will be at the East Mahoning Cemetery Purchase Line, PA.
