BOWSER-MINICH FUNERAL HOME IN INDIANA

William T. “Bill and Papa”, Ward, Sr., age 80 of Indiana, passed away on Monday April 15, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in 1932 in Indiana to Thomas J. and Mae K. Brilhart Ward. Mr. Ward was a man of strong faith and was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, Indiana. Bill graduated from Meadville High School in 1951. He joined the US Navy and served on the USS Earle B. Hall until November of 1955 when honorably discharged. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by Westinghouse, Specialty Metals Division, Blairsville, and retired in 1991 as a supervisor. Always quick with a helping hand or a colorful story, he spent a long and happy retirement sharing his love of life and the outdoors with family. He was gifted with the ability to fix anything, and enjoyed cultivating his roses and Plum trees. His memory lives on through many including his wife Helen (Sabol) Ward whom he married on June 1, 1957; three children, Diane M. Weaver and husband Gary, Indiana, and children Brandon and fiancée Emily Bond, VT, Brittany, MD; William T. Ward, Jr., and wife Tami, OH, and children Jennifer and Chris, OH; Nancy J. Schrecengost and husband Tom, Manheim, and children Kevin and Jimmy, Manheim; one brother and one sister, Patrick Ward, Indiana; Anne Johnston and husband Dave, Washington. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann and Betty Sabol, Creekside. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by one sister Virginia McCarl. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 A.M. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Fr. William Kiel the celebrant. Private interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice 850 Hospital Rd., Indiana, PA 15701; or to St. Bernard's Learning Center, 300 Clairvaux Dr., Indiana, PA 15701.
