James E. "Jim" Bennett, Sr., 79, of Lakeside-Marblehead, OH, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, OH.
He was born Sept. 17, 1933 in Strongstown, the son of A. Smith and Eithel Stephens Bennett. Jim married Carol Fitz and later married Anne Coss. He was a retired from Ford Motor Company. Jim was a member of the First Christian Church in Sandusky, OH, and the United States Power Squadron, Port Clinton, OH, where he was a past commander. He was a social member of the American Legion, Sandusky and he enjoyed boating and hunting.
He is survived by a son, James E. Bennett, Jr. and wife Karen, of Marblehead, OH; a brother, Sam Bennett and wife Barb, of Barberton, OH; two grandchildren: Mandy Hilditch and husband Todd and Cody Lenthe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Coss.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Strongstown United Methodist Church with The Rev. Denny Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Pineland Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
