          John Walter Reed, 97, of Lakeland, FL formerly of Indiana, PA passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Baldomero Lopez State Veteran’s Nursing Home, Lando Lakes, FL.

          The son of John Bruce and Elizabeth Maud (Calhoun) Reed, he was born January 11, 1916 in Livermore, PA.

          Mr. Reed graduated from Blairsville High School in 1933 and was of the Presbyterian faith.

          He was a life member of the Indiana VFW Post #1989 and a life member of the American Legion, Tampa, FL.

          He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Marines and worked as a supervisor in the auto industry.

          Surviving are a son, Larry Reed of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren, John T. Reed of Lakeland, FL and Estel B. Patti of Clearwater, Fl and two great grandchildren.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth R. (Dixon) Reed in 2005; a brother, Bill Reed and a sister, Hester Warnick.

          As per John’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.

          Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg, PA.
