Edna LaRue Smail Shearer, 84, of Clarksburg, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Kelly’s Personal Care Home, Greensburg.

Born Dec. 22, 1928, in Oklahoma, Westmoreland Co., she was the daughter of the late L. Raymond and Lida B. Hild Smail.

Mrs. Shearer was a graduate of Washington Township High School and Phillip Morris Business School. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Shearer and her husband, Arthur C. Shearer, were married for 45 years, until his death in 1994. LaRue lived most of her life in the Indiana County area, where she was a housewife and a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Anderson and husband David, of Clarksburg; one granddaughter, Lynnette Marie Anderson; two sisters: Alberta Shearer, of West Lebanon; and Donna Bernardo, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers; J. Howard Smail, and Arthur R. Smail; five sisters: Dorothy May Smail, A. Ruth Stear, Blanche L. King, Audrey Graham, and Alma C. Walker.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Brad Hoover officiating and the Rev. Dr. Tom Jones co-officiating. Interment will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Rose Adams, Nancy Circle, Cathy Schirato, Darlene Kelly and the staff at Kelly’s Personal Care Home for all of your care and support through these difficult times.
