DALE E. HADDEN, SR. OBITUARY

 

Dale Eugene Hadden, Sr., age 92, of Commodore, passed away Friday, April 18, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Friends of Dale Hadden will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa. A 1 p.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home with Daryl Dishong officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Clymer American Legion Post #222. Interment will follow at the Montgomery Cemetery in Grant Township.

             Dale Eugene Hadden, Sr., age 92, of Commodore, Pa., died Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, Pa.

            The son of Lynn Albert Hadden, Sr. and Mary Edna (Donahey) Hadden, he was born on Dec. 21, 1921 in Commodore, Pa.

            Dale served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class. His tour of duty included overseas campaigns in the Ardennes; the Rhineland and Central Europe.  Dale was proud to have served his country at the Battle of the Bulge.

            He was a retired coal miner, who had last worked at the Greenwich Collieries. However, after his “official retirement” Dale continued to occupy his time in other fields of work and became a “jack of all trades.”

            Dale enjoyed completing woodworking and carpentry projects. Some of his favorite pastimes were horseshoe pitching with his friends, going camping and playing pinochle.

            He married his wife, Helen N. (Pennington) Hutchinson Hadden, on Oct. 10, 1998.

            Dale is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Helen, of Commodore, Pa.; his four children: Dale Eugene Hadden, Jr. and wife Elaine of Dixonville, Pa.; Barbara Mumau and husband Darl of Clymer, Pa.; Bonnie Gromley and husband Marvin of Starford, Pa. and Beverly Hadden of Commodore, Pa.;  his fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sisters and two brothers: Betty Hudak and husband Michael, Sr. of Commodore, Pa.; EmmaBelle Stewart of Commodore, Pa.; Rob Roy Hadden and wife Dorothy of Florida and Lynn Albert Hadden, Jr. and wife Bernie of St. Boniface, Pa.

Dale is survived by his four step-children and their families: Tom Hutchinson and wife Debbie of Utah; Ted Hutchinson and wife Karen of Commodore, PA; Terri Fulton and husband Dave of Commodore, Pa. and Trisha Riess and husband Rodney of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Iva (Patterson) Hadden; his son, Gary Lee Hadden; his infant grandson; his granddaughter-in-law, Billie (Rounsley) Hadden and his two brothers: Clair and William Hadden.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa. A 1 p.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home with Daryl Dishong officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Clymer American Legion Post #222. Interment will follow at the Montgomery Cemetery in Grant Township, Indiana County, Pa.
