IUP Crimson Hawks advanced to NCAA D2 Football national quarterfinals with 17-14 win on the road against previously unbeaten New Haven.
IUP advanced to the NCAA Division II Super One Final with a thrilling 17-14 victory over previously unbeaten New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut.
With the victory, the Crimson Hawks are now 12-1, and will play in the Super One Regional Final next weekend in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Winston-Salem defeated Shippensburg.
The Chargers opted against a potential game tying 49-yard field goal attempt with 8 seconds remaining and instead threw a pass into the deep middle of end zone but it was broken up by safety Johnny Franco as time expired.
D'Antwan Williams led IUP with 125 yards rushing.
The Hawks are now one of 8 teams remaining in the country.
Next Saturday's game at Winston-Salem will be heard on WQMU-FM 92.5; U92.5 FM with an expanded pre-game show at 11 AM. Kickoff will be at noon.
The NCAA Division II Championship will be played December 15th in Florence, Alabama.
