The Ligonier Valley girls won on the road at Marion Center last night, defeating the Stingers, 56-47. The Rams used the offense of Maddy Grimm and Taylor Rudnik to open up a 17-point halftime lead, highlighted by Grimm's three-pointer from about eight feet beyond the arc at the buzzer.
Marion Center came out strong in the second half, with a defense that forced 16 turnovers in the final two frames. The Stingers closed to within three points twice in the second half but could get no closer.
Marion Center's Chantele Glasser led all scorers with 22 points and teammate Kiersten Brocious added 12, on four three-pointers as she continues to fight back from an off-season knee injury. Grimm and Rudnik each scored 20 to lead Ligonier Valley.
Conference leader Blairsville remained undefeated with a 77-22 win over Northern Cambria. Chelsey Koren and Mackenzie Livingston led the way, each with 15. Blairsville is 17-1 overall, 12-0 in the Heritage Conference
Homer Center defeated Saltsburg 48-44 as Jamie Rura scored 16 and Sydney Horel 14. Lisa Prenni led the Trojans with 13.
United beat Purchase Line, 61-28.
